"Fairytale" /""/, , . " - , "", - , - , - , , "". "" "". _____________________________________________________ The 23-year-old Alexander Rybak from Norway has won the 54th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with his song "Fairytale".
Rybak, who is an ethnic Belarussian who grew up outside Oslo, received the record 387 points at the 2009 Eurovision competition in the Russian capital Moscow.
Another Nordic country, Iceland, came second with singer Johanna (Yohanna) Gudrun Jonsdottir winning 218 points with her song "Is It True?"
Azerbaijan's AySel & Arash, came in third with 207 points with their song "Always".
Norway's Alexander Rybak brings Eurovision home for the third time after Norwegian victories in 1985 and 1995. The 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place in Norway.
Rybak's winning song "Fairytale" has been inspired by Russian and Norwegian folk music. The song was composed and written by Rybak himself. The song is performed with the modern folk dance company Frikar.
With his 387 points Rybak has broken the previous record of 292 points scored by Finland's band Lordi in 2006.
Moscow is reported to have spent USD 42 M on the five-day Eurovision Song Contest, making it the most expensive competition in Eurovision's history.

Iva Barzic I don't think so. Everybody of competitors were cute and beautiful. But the song of Ribak was very joyful and melodic. And how he played his fiddle!!!! He deserved this winning for sure!!!!!

Norway is a deserved winner. Congratulations!
I am very happy with the result. It is good that two of the original core ESC countries are on top. This will calm down critics who always claim that it's getting more and more a competition between Eastern countries who give each other points.
Iceland will probably be extremely happy about the second place. I have been to Iceland very often and I know that the ESC is very popular over there. But they will also be happy that they don't have to host the competition, because they neither have the infrastructure nor the financial resources to host such an event.

It would be embarrassing for them you mean? Or it would have a bad impact on.. the country's financial condition?

No. I mean, they neither have a big enough hall nor enough hotel beds.
Or it would have a bad impact on.. the country's financial condition?
Russia paid for this event 42 million Euros additionally to the amount paid by the EBU. Iceland is bankrupt. They simply couldn't pay such an amount. Maybe the amount the EBU gives would be enough to host the event. It doesn't need to be as big as in Moscow.

cora It doesn't need to be as big as in Moscow. No, it doesn't of course. I read somewhere that the show in Moscow was the most expensive in the history of ESC. But it is another question, if hosts, as a rule, try to make it "better then last year". This would then become a problem, may be

The countries want present themselves in the most positive way. For Russia this meant: BIG is the best. It doesn't need to be always like this.

I've found in the news that my country won't compete in Eurovision Song Contest anymore. Oops! (Reasons: No interrest in ESC, for example) I hope that they will change their mind.
