The english lyrics by non native speakers are often filled with grammatical mistakes. But they want to sing in english because it is more fashionable. And most poeple don't hear the mistakes. as long as it sounds english. English poeple often think dutch people are good in english. but when you keep asking them questions you'll find out that they have a limited vocabulary.

yeah i spose, she rly needs her english to be perfect or checked by a native before releasing it, shakira gets her lyrics checked by native english before releasing - but she never use to which is why Wherever Whenever has so many mistakes

When you are not a native speaker you simply cannot here it. I remember when I was 15 and was in germany for the first time and i was trying to speak german and someone started correcting me. I just felt o woman just shut up.

but its how you learn another language, being corrected is allows you to be able to structure the language in your head, or you could simply just carry on making mistakes...

I know i can speak 4 languages, but i am annoyed when foreigner especially english speakers always expect you to speak english. A couple of weeks ago i was in a restaurant in amsterdam and i ordered a beer and this american waitress told me; well excuse me i cannot speak dutch. I told her I would leave if she didn't start speaking dutch i would leave right now. I'm being discriminated in my own country.
