Linas & Simona feat. Ruslana - Fight for love and freedom

Wow! I had the audio version of the song for a long time, but hadn't seen this video before. I must admit that I'm not a fan of the song, but the performance is awesome! And Ruslana looks gorgeous!

Ruslana was on German TV today. A programme about Eastern European countries now and then. Here you can watch it. Ruslana's part is from minute 17-22.

I like the performance and the costumes very much, but I must admit that I'm not too fond of this version of Davaj Graj. It's like a reduced version. It sounds as if something is missing. I think the first version from one and a half years ago is still the best.

I also don´t like this version very much and it sounds as if there weren´t put much effort on the instrumental background. It reminds me of a show, where she performed this song (don´t remember the name of the show) and it sounded quite like the version she performed at this sports show.

I´ve been downloading the part with the interview right away. The other parts of the programme have been interesting though as well.

I posted the album version of "Kray" on Youtube accompanied by Romanian version of the lyrics translated and adapted by me. The song itself speaks about Northern Bukovina, which used to be a part of Romania between 1918 and 1940 and part of the Principality of Moldova between 1346 and 1775, so I thought that it would be a good idea to translate the lyrics into Romanian.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7wIy5Ygmpc

Versurile traduse şi adaptate în limba română:

Ţinut cu munţi şi văi
Acolo unde curg râuri repezi şi
Acolo unde creşte floarea-de-colţ
Răsună acest cântec în spaţiu
Liber, puternic ca marea
Dragul meu pământ natal

Şi, în distanţa albastră
Peste munţi zboară această melodie
Până la minunata margine
Dintre Ceremuş şi Prut

Bucovina, Bucovina mea dragă
Cântecul pune capăt muncii
Tu, draga mea
Tu draga mea mamă, Bucovina mea

Vizitaţi Carpaţii,
Vizitaţi-i, oameni buni
Veţi fi primiţi cu pâine şi sare
Cântecele cântate cu drag
Ne vor lumina zilele

Şi, în distanţa albastră
Peste munţi zboară această melodie
Până la minunata margine
Dintre Ceremuş şi Prut

Bucovina, Bucovina mea dragă
Cântecul pune capăt muncii
Tu, draga mea
Tu draga mea mamă, Bucovina mea

Şi, în distanţa albastră
Peste munţi zboară această melodie
Până la minunata margine
Dintre Ceremuş şi Prut

Bucovina, Bucovina mea dragă
Cântecul pune capăt muncii
Tu, draga mea
Tu draga mea mamă, Bucovina mea

Interesting. I must admit that I didn't have a closer look at the lyrics yet.

Good choice of photos! I'm not sure if I have the photos at 0:40 and 2:06. Can you please send them to me. Thanks.

I love this song because of the lyrics. I'm a Romanian patriot and even more, I was born on 27 March and that's a very special date in the history of my country. On 27 March 1918, the legislative institution of Bessarabia (historical region in Eastern Europe, now part of Moldova and Ukraine) voted the Grand Union with Romania. On 15 / 28 November 1918, Bukovina followed and joined the union and then on 18 November / 1 December 1918 Transylvania followed and joined the union. That was the Grand Union of Romania of 1918.

I'm deeply in love with all the historical provinces that used to be a part of the Great Kingdom of Romania (1918-1940): Northern Bukovina (today part of Ukraine: Chernivtsi Oblast), Bessarabia (today part of Ukraine and Moldova: the entire country of Moldova, Chernivtsy oblast and the Western part of the Odessa oblast of Ukraine), and Hertsa (today part of Ukraine: a part of the Chernitsi Oblast).

I'm not sure if I have the photos at 0:40 and 2:06. Can you please send them to me. Thanks

Sent!

P.S. Sorry for the long historical info. I'm a history nerd!

By the way, I'm not sure how many of you know that Ruslana's song "Arkan" is based on a Romanian traditional dance named "Arcanul". You can watch the original dance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk5RnfkSmf8

There´s a video on Ruslanatube, bringing up the memories of Ruslana´s victory at the ESC in 2004.

Honestly......I rather was hoping for some video shootings of Ruslana´s performances in Cyprus and Azerbeijan.

Yes, I watched it already. I never get bored of videos from that era.

Yes, me too. It looks like she performed in Azerbaijan with the new ballet again. I was hoping for the return of the wild dancers...

It's obvious that she put so much effort in this tour. The idea is not bad at all and it might become a popular way for singers to perform in the future.

I must admit that I love the costumes she's wearing Exactly as I told Ruslana when I met her in Bucharest in 2011: "If I were a girl, I would have killed you for these clothes"
