I have promised my report of the Eurovision week events but actually I feel that the moment was lost while I was working for 9 days and now when I?m finally free it seems I have no inspiration to write it right now. Sorry.
Your report is very exciting. (Though I saw only first pics until Arena). The pics are loading very slow so I probably see them later, looking for better internet. I?m glad that you took time to visit not only Kiev but Lviv and The Carpathian mountains - these are my favorite places in Ukraine and hope to see you and Lussekatt in my country again.
How is the DVD? You know, I didn?t even have an opportunity to check how the girl copied it. I hope it?s ok? How do you find the ?new? songs?

I also need your help! When I had computer problems I lost part of my pictures, those from Maidan performance of Ruslana. You?re the only hope, cause I could have copied them on the disk for Lussekatt which I gave to you when we met for the last time. There were also 2 pics of us all standing near the globus. I would be grateful if you send them by e-mail (etos4@bigmir.net). I understand that you can?t send them in original size, but 800×600 would be quite ok

Outstanding pictures!
Thank you :-)

Where did you get that superb brochure? Is it official or something handmade?

It is an official brochure. I got it at the press conference on 20th May. I hope they don't mind that I have scanned it :-)

I?m finally free it seems I have no inspiration to write it right now.
Sad, but I understand. After a while it fades away. I enjoyed very much writing it all down, so the experiences will stay with me for a long time (and of course also with the readers).

Unfortunately neither the DVD nor the CD worked properly. There were a lot of files on the CD which I couldn' t open. I could just see your photos of the charity concert. Just today I have sent DVD and CD to obw who knows more about these things and maybe he can help to open the files. I am not quite sure if I have seen the pictures you mentioned. I have to wait until I get the CD back. Sorry.

I remeber you as a very kind and careful person! Unfortunately I didnt get to spend more time with you as Cora but I hope that you saw my report from Kyiv as well :-)

I hope they don't mind that I have scanned it :-)

I think its a great idea, also with the full photoalbum. Its about care for everyone who hasnt the chance to see it otherwise.

Our adventures with DVD are going on, what can I say?
I?m really astonished that none of the disks work. Let?s find out why, because it musn?t be this way. Concerning DVD, it may be the problem with reading the format. But why it should be? I encoded it as MPEG 2 (DVD quality) which is quite a standard (with the help of program Adobe Premier Pro), if you know. In my computer these files can be read even by standard WindowsXP media player, not talking about DVD players ? it goes without saying. What player did you use?
Concerning video on CD (Tavria Games), it is encoded as MPEG4. And it was probably my mistake that I didn?t add on CD also the codec I used. But probably you can find it yourself - DivXPro 5.1.1 Or ask you friend. If you fail I?ll send you the codec pack by e-mail.
But even more surprisingly is that you can?t read some files on data CD! Which files? Disk contains primarily MP3 music. All music files encoded in the same way. Now I understand nothing at all. MP3 is the world standard. No difficulties should occur as it happens with video having many standards to encode.

Lussekatt
My impressions of you are also very warm. I?m looking forward to getting know you closer. I haven?t read your report yet ? lack of time. But I surely will.

I have brought back from Kyiv a brand new Ruslana brochure and an article from a Ukrainian magazine which you can download here.

That's a beautiful brochure! Someone in England has a copy of it on eBay if anyone wants the real thing.

So, there's a concept video for "The Same Star"? When do we get to see it?

Well, I don't know much about these things. I can only double click on something and if it doesn't open, then I'm stuck. That's why I asked obw. We will see what he says. I tried the DVD on - and + players and on the computer. It didn't work anywhere. No idea why.

Talking bout CD with MP3 music (where photos also are), you had 2 of them: one for you and another for Lussekatt (you still have it as far as I understand). Right? MP3 materials are identical on them. Do they both have the same reading problems of the same files? Tell me, which music files you managed to open? Or you managed photos only and no music at all?

Okay, I've got a first analysis of the possible problems with the disks.

First the video-CD: It's on one of those dreaded 99 minute CDs, which work great as long as you use them on exactly one drive; the one you've recorded them on. I have myself some of those blanks lying around and try to avoid them for exactly that issue. Did get to start it on one of the three drives I tried, so I'll try to extract the data and copy it to another CD, shrinking it, if necessary. (The avi file is about 700 MB, so it should fit on a regular 80 min CD.) (And 4 drives still left, so there's hope ;)

Then the mp3/photo-CD with the "unopenable" files. My computer identifies it as:
ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3
In fact I can open all files under Linux, should be even less a problem under Windows XP. I see only "?"s in the filenames though, because the cyrillic unicode characters don't get translated, my system is not configured for that. Will try again with Windows 2000 later. Maybe Windows gets confused. edit: Okay, tried it. Windows 98SE has problems, but I could play everything with mediaplayer or iTunes on 2k and the filenames were displayed cleanly.

The DVD is a data DVD containing all videos in a directory "Ruslana". My el cheapo CyberHome-402 DVD player opens and plays them flawlessly. I don't see any possible problem here. Works also on the Linux laptop, still don't have any Windows machine with DVD drive. Of course then this is not a DVD you can use from a DVD player software via "play DVD", but use via normal file system browsing. I think that was the culprit.

Now, if you have only Win98 or *cough* ME you may be out of luck concerning the mp3 files, though.

No, I have given them to Lussekatt as promised.

But I have also received some discs from Lussekatt which didn't work either. Later I got confused which ones where from you and which from Lussekatt. I have sent all the not working ones to obw.

obw
I have got Windows ME.
It sounds as if you can help. Great, thank you!

Yes, the easiest thing would be if you upgraded your operating system to something more modern. ;-)

(just kidding... I'll see what I can do ... I just have to say it: WinME is well known as the worst. Windows. ever. </comic book guy>)

If only I knew?.I used them just because I didn?t have the standard once at the moment and thought it would be no difference?

If only I knew

Don't mind, I learned it the hard way when I once transfered a huge file with a 90(!) minute CD. Had to recopy it at home - at less than single speed. :-P
