All of my aunty used to play the mandoline. It was avery populair instrument decades ago. You had mandoline orchestras with bass mandolines. Those are big mandolines.

In the alps they have instruments like that too. an alphorn only it is bended down. those horns aren't really instruments they are made for communication in mountanous areas. you can communicate with other villages. In holland they placed the wings of a windmill in certain positions to communicate with the other villages. (our country is completely flat so nothing is obstructed the view)

I think it's a celtic instrument... but it was used by the scytians too.... I think they've imported it... u know... they had a very big area of expansion (from the Black Sea to Bretonnia) :)
