I have just about found out about that yes! Im reading a multipage swedish report about Chornobyl fresh from mars 2006. Its very detailed and explained for example whats happened to the nature afterwards.... really fashinating.
oh yes. the swedish report confirms what you say: Outside Soviet union it was swedes (on a "nuclearplace" dont know the correct english term for it) who was the first in the word to discover what has happened and grade it. Their equipment could already by then read where and how it all happened as well. Soviet confirmed their discovery two days later on!

Now, all the area of the blast (that in the pic with radiations u've put) is called ''WOLVESLAND''. So spooky... I've saw tons of pics from there... DESOLATION/DESOLATED. :(

sorry, I don't know english very good but i think that you will understend me. Our teacher say that one ukrainian journalist made interesting photos of chernobyl, an his album printed in 15 countries. in Ukraine printed only 200 copies, because our authority don't what populate this information. May be, someboby from other countruies saw this book and can say something about it.
